Civil Rights Act of 1964, Title VII
Title VII of The Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits employment discrimination against individuals based on race, color, religion, sex and national origin by companies employing fifteen or more employees. Private employers, state and local governments, employment agencies and labor unions are prohibited from discriminating against individuals in job application procedures, hiring, firing, advancement, compensation, job training, and other terms, conditions and privileges of employment.
