Handicap Discrimination
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) prohibits employment discrimination against disabled or handicapped individuals. State civil rights laws have also been enacted that prohibit employment discrimination against disabled or handicapped individuals by private employers.
These laws make it unlawful for an employer to fail or refuse to hire or to terminate any individual because of a mental or physical handicap. It is also unlawful to discriminate against any individual with respect to compensation, terms, conditions, opportunities, status or privileges of employment because of a mental or physical handicap.
